Last week Srivishnu was taught "who is a boy/girl" at his preschool..From then on,initially whenever we go out or when guests come home,he started asking me whether they are a boy/girl ..He started getting very curious about it.He now got familiar that girls keep bindi,wear bangles,anklets and ear rings and he himself identifies the gender correctly..It so happened that yesterday i was showing him his younger days photos say when he was around one and a half years of age..Though he was excited, with a profound look on his face he asked me"Amma, was I a girl when i was young and then did i change to a boy?"..Controlling my laughter as i knew the reason why he asked me this question,i asked him why he asked me this question...He immediately responded"See i am wearing bangles,anklets and earrings which only girls do,now i dont have those so i was a girl when i was young now became a boy"..Marveled at his presence of mind,i explained to him that all kids when they are young will wear all this,once they grow up girls alone will continue to wear while boys wont...Finally he got convinced  — with Sriram Narasimhan.

My first visit to my wedding hall after my wedding held 4.9 years back and about Sachin's farewell speech - Posted on 18th November 2013

On the afternoon of 16th November 2013 i returned back home with nostalgic memories after attending my cousin's wedding at the same marriage hall where my wedding took place 4.9 years back..This is the first time i went to that hall after my wedding..Recollecting the events that took place during my wedding made me feel wonderful at the same time hard to believe that so many years have gone so quickly..
On reaching home,was even more excited to watch Sachin's farewell speech..I have some basic knowledge about cricket because of my father,my brother Sudersan Sridharan and my husband Sriram Narasimhan..Still remember the days when my brother religiously went to all the matches that took place at chepauk stadium and the chaos he used to create at home before and after attending the matches  !!!
I was glued to the TV once Sachin started delivering his speech..Oh what a great man!!!Despite of being described as "God" by his fans,he humbly thanked every single person in his life right from his father,mother,brother,sister,wife,children,his coach,his panel of doctors without missing even a single soul..With "N" number of awards and records to his credit ,it indeed was an emotional moment to all the people who witnessed him bending down to touch the pitch for one last time...May be as he said his life between 22 yards for 24 years has come to an end but this "Gem of India(Bharat Ratna)" will be cherished by people from all over the world and will be remembered until the world comes to an end!!!!

As our children grow older we realize that we too grow older along with them.I realized it when i attended Srivishnu's first parent teacher interview at his preschool :)Got nostalgic as i remembered the days when my parents attended PTA meeting at my school and at my dear brother,Ajay Sudersan Sridharan 's school :)I used to eagerly wait for my parents to come back from office to hear what my teacher's had to say about me when they went to school for the meeting on that day morning.Years have gone so quickly Srivishnu's teachers were all full of praise for him - very shrewd and attentive in class,answers quickly,very active but....not able to sit in one particular place for more than 2 minutes...When it comes to colouring, scribbles quickly and curiously peeps into what others are doing....Same words heard years back..perhaps history repeats again, what say Ajay  — with Sriram Narasimhan.

Srivishnu is trying to talk long sentences.Its really admirable to watch him use his own language when he tries to do so.For instance, when i tell "ippadi panna koodadhu",he will immediately respond "panna thudanum".Actually what he meant was "panna kudanum".He is not able to pronounce "Ka" and "fa".He uses "Tha(Dha)" for "Ka" and "Cha" for "Fa".We can have a good enjoyable time we ask him to tell... words begining with these letters..It will be real fun when he says "Thambi mela thatha (Kambi mela kaka)","chan for fan","chich for fish" and so on.LAst week after bringing him back from school ,i gave him few stickers for him to stick while giving him food.One of the stickers didnt have enough gum that it didnt stick properly..i told Srivishnu i will buy new "gum" for him in the evening if he immediately slept after eating..But Srivishnu wanted it immediaely.So he quickly ran to my FIL and said "Thatha yennaku oru Dham venum"..On hearing it we all had a good laugh mocking him, saying he was the only grandson to have asked his grandpa to buy "Dham".Unmindful of why we are laughing he too laughed along with us !!!!

Srivishnu prefers snacks (savouries) and spicy stuffs as compared to rice and sweets.Our neighbour,a malayalee gave us chips bought from kerala.Srivishnu liked it so much and was asking for more of it.I refused saying it was time for his dinner and since he already had enough i wil give him for snacks the next day at school.It was 10.30 pm,i was tryin to put him to sleep by telling stories,singin...g songs etc but he was so restless.Suddenly he said "amma i want to c thatha,take me out of the room".i was really perplexed as to why he wanted to see him at this hour.But i obediently obliged.After going out of the room,he quickly ran to the kitchen opened the box containing the chips,took a handful of it and gave a cunning smile at me ..I couldnt stop laughing at his behaviour...Seriyana vishama kara kannan :):)

Daily i used to tell bedtime stories to Srivishnu (like panchatantra,from the puranas like the Ramayana/Mahabhartha and the Dasavathara of Lord Mahavishnu).Recently i told the story of vamana avatar(in other words the story of King MAHABALI).LAst weekend my cousins had planned for an outing to mahabalipuram.I was telling Srivishnu if he was good ,we will take him there and he can enjoy with his cousins.As soon as i told him about 'MAHABALI'PURAM,immediately Srivishnu asked me whether 'MAHABALI' will be there ?? :)Was realy amazed as to how he related the two !!!!!

A year since Ajay left to the US - 5th August 2013

Exactly a year back on 5/8/2012 we were having mixed feeling.Reason my little brother, oops i should say (now )my big brother Ajay was getting ready to leave to the US to pursue his masters..The day started off with a visit to our favourite Srinivasa perumal temple at mylapore,then finished off with final packing..From evening 3 pm,all my relatives started coming home to wish him "bon voyage"..Soo...n ajay's school friends came and our house was packed with both friends and relatives.We then had a surprise cake cutting celebration followed by dinner..Everthing was set and finally the time had arrived.We all boarded the van at 9.30 pm and headed off to the airport.Sivishnu was so thrilled that ajay was going to go j-o-i-n-g (in aeroplane).Till 1.15 am(6th aug) he was so active playing,runing here and there,conversing with people there..We showed him through the glass window as the plane took off..I was happy and proud that everyhing went on well and my brother was going to pursue MS.At the same time the thought of parting wih him brought down tears from my eyes.The next day morning Srivishnu as soon as he got up searched for ajay everywhere inside the house and we were busy tracking the journey of the flight through the flight tracker.One yr has gone so quickly!!!! We all especially Srivishnu miss him so much.Our prayers and wishes to Ajay to stay healthy and complete the rest of his semesters with good marks!!!!! :)All the best da!!!! — with Sudersan Sridharan and Sriram Narasimhan.

Oooooooooooooh wat a terrible month "MAY" had been with both Sriram and Srivishnu down with fever..3 weeks of severe cold,2 weeks of fever,9 days in hospital my little Srivishnu has become really very weak physically ....By God's grace all his blood tests came negative and Srivishnu was discharged on wednesday evening leaving behind bitter memories of injection,changing IV frequenly,oral medicines... which hopefully he should overcome soon..Looking forward for a Joyful JUNE!!!!..Having said tht wanted to share an incident that happened at hospital.Srivishnu didnt have fever for 24hrs and we were hopeful of getting discharged the next day morning when suddenly night around 11pm he got 101f .Keeping my hand on my head i told my mom"Thalavalikardhu(headache),not sure y he got fever again"...Srivishnu started singing "Y this Thalavali thalavali,thalavali di"..Tears rolled my eyes as i hugged him!!!!!!!!!!

Srivishnu has severe cold and cough..He was crying restlessly..I was patting him on my shoulders wiping away the phlegm that peeped out from his nostrils.My FIL came that side and in order to convince him ,he gave him an old time piece(alarm clock)..Srivishnu stared at it for a moment,got down from my hip,put that clock down and was trying to stand on the top of it..I was about to scold him for do...ing it when something flashed to me...In order to confirm whether we both thought on the same lines, i asked him what he was doing.Within seconds he changed my mood.I hugged him and kissed him for his creative thinking.This is what he said "I am checking my weight" .Perhaps the time piece resembled a weighing machine that he saw in his doctor's clinic when i took him there 2 days back Lateral thinker!!!

Srivishnu's favourite God is "Hanuman".May be because of that he is so fond of monkeys.While teaching him about animals and while narrating the story of Ramayana,i used to tell him that monkeys live on trees.Yesterday i took him to a nearby park and we were playing when a little boy may be around 8 yrs came that side...Srivishnu watched in amazement as that boy quickly climbed a tree nearby.with a... mixed expresson of joy,confusion and excitement he asked me " amma u have told me monkeys live on trees,that anna is standing on a tree, is he a monkey ??? Before i could think of a reply to tell him he shouted to that boy"anna r u a monkey" ??:)...Thank God he dint hear anything..Hurriedly i carried him away from that place!!!!!

Srivishnu operates my samsung galaxy y mobile with ease.Since he constanty calls his father Sriram Narasimhan,i have told him that "appa will be in office meeting and should not disturb him".I have now used passwords to lock my mobile.Also daily in the evening after srivishnu gets up from his afternoon nap and settles down (around 4 pm) i used to call sriram .Srivishnu keenly observes everything t...hat happens around him. Yesterday Srivishnu got up early after his afternoon nap.i was doing some work..He wanted me to play with him.I took my mobile and called sriram. Srivishnu got restless and guessed whom i was calling..There was no response at the other end..Realising the situation,with a mocking smile on his face Srivishnu said "Appa is in an office meeting,dont disturb him,come and play with me" ..Obediently i followed what he said as i didnt know what to reply to him !!!!!

Srivishnu is so much attached to my brother Sudersan Sridharan Ajay.After Ajay left to the US, he missed him so much initially. I thought he had overcome it since he freqently sees him through skype and talks with him over phone.Srivishnu uses the word jo-ii-ng for all that flies,moves etc..Whenver a he sees an aeroplane he used to tell "Ajay Jo-ii-ng".Last week i played Ramayana animations DVD fo...r him..Hanuman grew bigger in size and was about to fly to Lanka in search of Sita..I narrated the story to him saying now "Hanuman wil go Jo-ii-ng in search of sita".Immediately he bursted out crying uncontrollably.I was perplexed as to what happened to him..Patting him i asked why he cried.The reply he gave made me get emotional too (:..This is what he said "Ajay mama jo-ii-ng,now hanuman jo-ii-ng,i want hanuman back"(in his own language).Made me realize how much feelings even little ones have!!!!!

Srivishnu was restlessly crying for no reason.I tried consoling him by giving his favourite toys,played his favourite rhymes,took him to the balcony but nothing could stop him.Finally i told him we will watch his favourite ads and switched on the tv.Before the visuals came,we heard the audio..AS soon as Srivishnu heard"Vaadi malli",he jumped from my hip and started shaking his legs dancing to the song "Kalasala" from the film "osthe"..I was astonished at his behaviour.Within seconds his mood changed..Was wondering what an impact these kuthu songs have on kids ..Perhaps these are situations we need to remember ,might be useful the next time we face similar situation !!!

Feel fortunate to wish u all on 31st december 2012 admist all the rumours and predictions of world comin to an end in 2012...God has saved the world from natural calamities which was feared to have occured in 2012 according to predictions thank you almighty !!
From the personal front,year 2012 has been wonderful year,with Sriram Narasimhan having a successful career,my bro ajay Sudersan Sridharan... went to US to pursue his masters,my adorable son Srivishnu makes every moment of my life so precious..
Welcoming new year 2013 with lots of hope and aspirations -Srivishnu's admission to play school, Ajay's studies and to find myself in a good job once sivishnu gets accustomed to his school life...

25/10/2010,the day from when, me and Sriram Narasimhan started cherishing the joy of parenthood..Each moment we spend with Srivishnu is so memorable and enjoyable..So was his 2nd bday last week(25th oct)..He thoroughly enjoyed wearing new dress,receiving gifts(we bought few toys that he is fond of and packed it in colourful sheets) followed by a small celebration at home..In the evening we visited... my parents house and there too he had a gala time..This weekend we took him to few temples in and around Srirangam..He was thrilled to travel in train for the first time and to have made friends with little companions there..Fortunately until we returned back this sunday night we escaped from rain May the almighty bless him with good health and long life!!!

This saturday we went to the birthday party of my my mother in law's cousin brother's 7 yr old daughter.Since she has a fascination for antique jewellery i had bought a fancy necklace set with earrings,bracelet,bindis and sticker mehindi ,all neatly packed in a colourful box..Since it was all so colourful and glittering,srivishnu was lured by it..He interestingly saw when i showed what i had bought as gift to present her..I ...expected Srivishnu woud resist when we gifted this to that little girl..Contrary to that he remained quiet..While we were about to leave after the party,srivishnu immediately rushed to a room wherein all the gifts were acuumulated..To everyone's surpsrise he correctly spotted the gift that v gave among the pile of gifts,gave it to me and said,"Jai,indha,va(Jai here take this and come)" !!!

Last week me and Sriram Narasimhan took srivishnu to Children's park at Guindy..He had a great time there..He was amazed to see the birds and animals in reality that he has so far seen as pictures in his books.He was excited to see swans bathing,2 monkeys fighting with each other,a huge crocodile sleeping,lots of deers wandering here and there,peacock with its beautiful feathers walking along its ...cage and so on..He walked more than an hour continuously ignoring us when we offered to carry him..After returning home he narrated all that he saw to his grandparents with the same excitement..The next day i had a tough time managing him since he was so restless(may be he was tired as he walked long distance the prev day at the park)..He was having his afternoon nap..After an hour of deep sleep he suddenly turned to his left side ,opened his eyes half closed and cried out"Jai ,appa kaanum (missing )"..Perhaps he thought it was night time I patted him saying he was having his afternoon nap and that the sun was still there,moon has not yet come and his dad is in office and that he will come in the evening!!!

Whenever Srivishnu troubles me a lot I used to feign as though am talking over the phone to his doctor and say he is troubling me a lot so kindly come and give him injection..Occasionally he will try to be obedient for a few seconds..Last week i had severe sprain in my right hand that found it difficult to lift my hand..Srivishnu was troubling me to have his food...I was telling him that i have pa...in in my right hand and he should not trouble me while feeding him..instantly he picked up my flip model mobile that was beside me and spoke as though really there was someone at the other end..I seriously didnt know how to react to what he said .This is what he said --"Hello doctor va, jay (nowadays he calls me as jay not as amma) oova(he meant am not feeling alright) oosi(give her injection)"!!!!!

Here comes another interesting story about Srivishnu
Srivishnu has started talking a lot of words for the past one week..To encourage him further, i make him repeat the names of my cousins(like suju,Badri,Sruthi,Aishu,radhu,Sai to name a few) apart from the words that we frequently use..It so happened that my mom was asking me to have "idly" for breakfast so that i will have sufficient time to gi...ve food to him and have my lunch..Srivishnu came running to me asking for idly(not that he likes it so much but it was the firsttime he said idly..Till then he used to say "mammam" for everything..Since it was already 9 am and time for him to have food, i diverted him...Again after ten mins he came rushing to me and asked "amma badhi(he meant badri,my cousin's name)".I told him i dont undertsand what he said..He then pointed to his mouth and said"Badhi badhi".then only i realised and asked him whether he meant "idly"..blushing he nodded his little head with a cute smile on his face.Perhaps he got confused with "idly" and "badri”

Srivishnu is very much attached to my parents and brother that whenever i return from my parents house or once they leave after visiting us, i really have a tough time consoling him.It so happened that last sunday we went to my father's native place and few temples nearby.It was night by the time we reached home..Srivishnu had an enjoyable time.He was in tears once they left after dropping us. We ...had a tough time managing him.It was 4 am on monday morning..I heard someone clapping..To my surprise found srivishnu laying beside me and clapping his hands calling "Ajay Ajay(my bro) ball"..Then he laughed loudly ...He was actually doing all this in his sleep..I patted him saying he was sleeping with his father and mother beside him and he can play the next day morning..He then slept quietly..At around 4.45 am there was a loud cry and he said "thatha thatha va va"..i again patted him and put him to sleep..It was really funny to watch him do all this..Made me realize even a 20 months old baby has a subconscious mind and can recollect incidents that happened earlier!!!!

Me and Srivishnu were at my parents house and we both were playing in the hall.My brother Ajay was having his bath.Srivishnu picked up a torch and asked me to switch it on.I told him it had no battery and we will ask Ajay mama to buy a new battery for torch.He thought for a second and immediately pointed to the switch board where i had put camera battery on charge.May be he wanted to take that battery and use it for torch.I was really astonished by his presence of mind .Recovering from it i told him we cant use this battery for torch(i wanted to divert the topic) and that we will have to buy a new one.He immediately went near the bathroom and shouted "Ajay Ajay".Coincidently he came out after bath.Srivishnu pointed to the batteries being charged and said "Amma batty (meaning battery)'.May be he wanted to double check whether i told the truth to him..Enna koduma pa idhellam !!:)

Srivishnu always wants the place around him to be neat and tidy.Of course he will put waste papers around (and ask me to clean it saying "amma , there is dirt" ) .If i dont clean it immediately he will get restless.Even while giving him food i should see to it that i dont spill even a single piece of rice.In case i spill it only after cleaning it ,wil he allow me to feed him further.
It so happe...ned that today when i took him for an evening walk we met our flat sweeper sweeping near our main entrance gate..He waved her bye and we left..While returning home after short walk we happened to meet her at the street corner..There lots of dry leaves,mud etc were accumulated.Srivishnu's eyes kept staring at it..That lady was taking to him asking where he went for walk.Unmindful of what she was asking he pointed to the pile of dirt accumulated and said "Maani(meaning Aunty) dhoosi (dust)"..May be he wanted her to clean it so hurriedly i took him away from that place !!!

Date : 23/6/2008 Day :Monday
Occasion : Sriram Narasimhan and myself met for the first time along with our family.It was a traditional meeting arranged at my uncle's house.He was accompanied by his parents and few relatives so was at my side too.I was clad in a traditional silk saree.Since grandma's were present i was asked to sing a song.I sang "Brahmamokate"..Since was a bit nerv...ous i felt didnt do full justice to that song.Next me and Sriram spoke for 40 mins(about our career first and then our interest etc).Both of felt we could get along and it was all fixed on that day itself..As conclusion,i sang "Narayana endru sonnal" which was liked by everyone present there.

Yesterday being the 4th anniversary since we met,recollected all that events that happened these yrs especially after wedding..Feel we too are like all married couples arguing for all silly/stupid reasons though we have some memorable events to cherish..However yday was indeed special as he took me to "Saguni" movie surprisingly..Though the movie was kind of ok,yet watching movie with him makes it memorable!!!

Its really fun to watch babies grow :
There is a three and a half yr old north indian girl named "Sania" opposite my flat(of course she is the only kid in my neighbourhood apart from my one and a half yr old son "Srivishnu").Daily from her balcony she used to call him as "baby" and he used to call her as "aththa"(in his language meaning "akka").Now that he has started talking few more words,i taug...ht him the word "Didi"(since she can understand ).He also came to know that her name is "Sania"...He started calling her as "Naani"(which sounded as "sania" to her).Angrily she came and said "hey baby if u call me by name i will not talk with u,i am elder to u so call me as Didi"..I translated the same to him and trust me he wantedly started calling her by name from then on:)

Tomorrow 26/02/2012 a decade since we(2002 computer science batch) completed our 12th std board exams..On 26/03/2002 we had our last board exam- computer science and our IIPE coaching classes commenced that day evening..Ironically it comes on a monday(as it was 10 yrs back)!!!!years have passed but not the memories...Got nostalgc remembering our school days-our daily prayers both in the ground and... in our classrooms(on tuesdays and thurdays),our weekly once PT classs for which v used to wait eagerly,music class(especially practising for music exams),dance classes(the no of days we forgot to take our pyjamas and stood outside),our lab classes,while waiting for our english class test/exam results(for those who were under Ramani mam),moral science classes,cultural events yearly once and the practises for it and of course the lunch time gossips..last but not the least our sanskrit classes and the time we used to take while shuffling classes to attend language clasees..Am sure the sanskrit students remember the verse-"karakamala dharadhalitha lalitha thara vamshi"(for the tune that Meera mam composed and we all used to recite afte her)..OMG!!!!it was nice to recollect these events that happened during school..Felt extremely happy when i met Mrs Maria(our chemistry teacher) today at visalakshi's wedding reception almost after 10 years :)

Today our reunion was indeed memorable:)...Though only 7 of us turned up yet we had a good time chatting about the events that happened these 10 years..felt proud since all the 7 of us are well qualified -one gynaecologist,a PhD student,a bank manager,a HR,a nutritionist and 2 s/w professionals..Not only that heard from them about those who didnt attend the reuinon.Most of them are professionally qualified with some of them settled here while some abroad... indeed rosary 2002 batch rocks!!!!

On 15th feb 2009,marriages made in heaven was celebrated on earth in "Hema Malini" marriage hall.Its incredible that 3 yrs have gone so quickly.Indeed marriage is a very important event in one's life..Though there will be some ups and downs yet to have someone to share our life with is very special.A very happy 3rd wedding anniversary (15/02/2012) to my husband Sriram Narasimhan

Year 2011 was a moderate year and went on fine-my hubby sriram had a good career,my brother got placed in two top companies in his final year BE and i was fortunate to have been with my son srivishnu and enjoy/monitor all his activities -crawling,sitting,standing and walking by holding the objects,started talkin few words(amma,appa,mama,etc) and also celebrated his 1st bday grandly..Thank you 2011... and welcome 2012.Have a lot of expectations for the year 2012-Sriram's' successful career should continue,srivishnu should have good health and be energetic as he is now (keeping me on my toes always ),my brother's higher education and i should land up in a new job during the end of this year hopfully.My prayers to God for a peaceful and happy 2012.Wish u all a wonderful 2012.May this new year bring abundant joy and prosperity to u and ur family :)HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

Last year on 25th october 2010 at 3.45 pm God sent me a priceless gift which was as bright as the sun,as delicate as the fower and as sweet as honey.It gave me feeling which cannot be expressed in words-the feeling of motherhood..I pray to the almighty for his good health and long life. I wish my sweet and adorable son Srivishnu a Very Happy First birthday(25/10/2011) !!!!!
