International Yoga Day - Posted on 22nd June 2015

22nd June 2015

Isha Foundation conducted a free Yoga session at my office on Friday since yesterday was declared International Yoga day to create awareness among the people on the benefits of Yoga..They had planned to conduct for 25 people but due to overwhelming response they decided to take for 50 of us in two batches!!
Fortunately i was one of them smile emoticon It was a 1.5 hrs sessions which included a presentation which began with an introduction about Sadguru Jaggi Vasudev and how Isha foundation was formed followed by a short speech by Sadguru Jaggi Vasudev himself wherein he spoke about the origin of Yoga ,the benefits of doing Yoga and so on..He then explained about Upa Yoga(Yoga for health, peace, success, love and Inner exploration)..We had a demo for each Yoga on screen after which we were asked to repeat the same. Two volunteers from Isha, Ms Aarthi and Mr Yugadev were the volunteers for that session..
It was indeed 1.5 hrs of peace and stress relieving session:) Thanks to Isha foundation for their initiative smile emoticon

One of the Precious moment in my life - Posted for GRT contest on 9th June 2015

9th June 2015

One of the most precious moment in my life is definitely during the "Thirumangalya dharanam" or rather "Kannikadhanam" during my wedding ..It's of course not only a memorable moment for me but for all girls!!
For the very first time,I was draped in madisar ,sitting on my father's lap surrounded by kith and kin with the divine Nathaswaram and Kettimelam on one side, the mantras being chanted by the purohit on the other when my husband Sriram Narasimhan was about to tie the Thirumangalyam(Divine thread) that symbolizes the new bond which unites two individuals and in turn unites two families at large..Within moments my "Gothram" that i was in right from my birth, changed smile emoticon
It is that moment from when "i" and "you" becomes "we" , and "mine" and "yours" becomes "ours" smile emoticon
It marks the beginning of a new chapter in life!!!

Thanking for Birthday wishes - Posted on 22 April 2015

22 April 2015

Dear all thank you so much for your wishes smile emoticon Never thought turning 30 will be so memorable!!!
Starting from visiting Ashtalakshmi temple the previous evening on Akshaya Tritiyai which also coincidentally happened to be my star birthday, dinner with hubby Sriram Narasimhan at Rajdhani Restaurant, with messages started pouring in from 12 am both in Watsapp as well test messages, waking up to surprise birthday cake sent by parents and brother Sudersan Sridharan, gifts and blessings from my in laws and grandma, sweet wishes from my little Srivishnu, constant calls from relatives and friends,my colleagues who dropped by my cubicle to wish me on the special day, surprise gifts from my friends in office, the thought that so many people have spared few minutes of their time inspite of their busy schedule to wish me in Facebook crossing more 85 messages and more than 100 in watsapp, what more can i ask for smile emoticon smile emoticon
Not sure what i have achieved/earned in these 30 years except for a good lovable family and friends who have been by my side constantly supporting me in all my endeavors.
Looking forward to spend the rest of my life in a fruitful and useful way which would enable me to chase my dreams as well as serve the society the best way possible smile emoticon!!!!

Our dearest thatha - Posted on 16th March 2015

16th March 2015

16th March 2004,one of the days I will remember for my lifetime!!!
The whole world was busy watching India Vs Pakistan ODI (at Rawalpindi)..So was i and my brother Sudersan Sridharan !!! Guess Sachin had even scored a century..Little did we know that while we were watching the match we will be losing one of our dearest ones ----Our grandfather!!!!
He was not alright from the evening but we thought it was due to his age but with time he started shrinking..By night time he was no more with us!!!
We were fortunate of spending most of our childhood with our dearest grandfather who have told many stories, took us out for a daily walk (around mylapore like Chitrakulam,Vendanta desikar temple,Kesava perumal temple ) and so on, which many wouldn't have had a chance to experience.
Years have gone but each day definitely at least once we remember him may be when we see things/people around us something will remind us about him..Though he is not with us today his words and memories will live on with us forever as our dearest and loving grandfather smile emoticon The number of days we watched serials like Mahabharath,Shakthimaan,Yug,Ramayana, the number of temples we had visited (Tirupathi,Tiruvallur, shollingur) etc stay fresh in my mind!!
So why did i post this after so many years, hmmm may be because coincidentally today both his death date and ritual date(tamil date) fell on the same day!!! I recalled this day that year..
Phew 11 years have gone sooo quickly!!!!

Engal Manam irukkum varai un nenaivirukkum!!! Love you thatha :) ..

Miss you!!!!

One of the social issues we face today- Begging --- Posted on 26 February 2015

26 February 2015

This is one of my lengthiest post about one of the social issue we are currently facing..So kindly spare a few minutes to read it and do pass it on!!!
Experienced one of the most embarrassing situation in my life today!!
While coming to office by MRTS train, for the past two days i have been observing a middle aged lady with three girl children may be around 8,6 and 4 yrs of age (not sure whether they r her kids though) and two little monkeys travelling in that train.Today once the train started off, those kids came near people asking for alms while that lady was sitting seeming to be unmindful of what was happening.Out of concern many of us gave few pennies to those kids(though my mind said not to encourage kids begging the mom's heart inside me forced me to do it)..Those three kids split among themselves while asking for alms..Each one chose one side..After they collected the money they handed it over to that middle aged lady..The girl who came to the side i was sitting was the eldest among the three kids..It so happened that i took my handbag, when i was about to get up to get down in the next station,..That 4 year old girl on watching this came towards me and started begging..I tried to tell her both in Tamil and in Hindi that i have already given it to her sister..But she didn't understand(or may be she didn't want to listen to what i was telling),she was constantly pestering me..She went to the extent of falling at my feet 3 or 4 times, held my hands and did all sorts of actions to persuade me to give her money..Though i felt heartbroken at this i was equally angry at the way this little girl has been trained..But this time i made myself as strong as iron(but trust me it was too difficult)not to yield to her request..She too was determined in her own way..It was really embarrassing but i didn't want to give up..Ultimately the lady next to me who just got into the train gave her money..She went away happily to that middle aged woman with a feeling of accomplishment!!!
Its really pathetic to see these little children being misused in these ways..We say "Today's children are tomorrow's citizens" but are we providing such atmosphere to kids today????..I do agree "begging" has occurred even in the earlier generations and is common around the world..But its high time we did something about it..Previously there was news headlines saying"NGO's are going to adopt beggars so that there will not be a single beggar in India"..did that ever happen???
Its really time for us to THINK about it..I have immediately posted about this situation to Shri Narendra Modi's page in Facebook..Not sure what will the response be..Anyway lets put a word to people about this and try not to encourage begging in India!!!!!
Thanks for reading my post with patience!!! smile emoticon

Delhi Election Results Posted on 10th February 2015

10th February 2015

The people of India have once again proved India is a democratic country!!! Delhi assembly elections says it all..Despite the blunder they did in the previous elections people of Delhi have given them a second chance..Its time AK and his team try to reinvent ways to keep up to the expectation of the people..
Also its high time BJP excogitate what has gone wrong and how to gain back people's confidence by implementing what they promised during 2014 elections!!!
In Arnab's words : The people are watching!!!! India wants to know!!!! smile emoticon
Good luck to Arvind Kejriwal and AAP team!!!!
